Tekton Improvements was formed in 2022 to meet the building improvement needs of homeowners, property managers, and local businesses within the High Desert and surrounding communities. The owner, Gary Merriman has been in the construction industry for over 30 years and decided to transition from a career in higher education back to home improvement in order to work with his hands and create beautiful environments. He has a Class B General Contractors License (#1091903) and is fully bonded and insured.

The term “Tekton” is an ancient Koine Greek term meaning “Craftsman”. It was the term used in the Bible (Mark 6:3) to speak of Jesus’ profession (like Joseph) prior to starting his earthly ministry. This term was chosen for the business because it applies to much more than a simple trade (mason, carpenter, etc.), but rather speaks to the characteristics of the workman. Gary Merriman has always appreciated the value placed on skilled craftsman within the Biblical text. The very first people to be described in the Bible as “filled with the Spirit” were the gifted artisans and metal workers who were responsible for building the Tabernacle and all of its furnishings (Ex 28:3; 31:3; 35:31). We at Tekton Improvements look at our work in the same manner. We strive to do our work with quality and skill, at an affordable price, and in a manner which honors God.
